BRISTOLIAN OF THE WEEK:
Step forward pensioners campaigner ANNE CRABTREE and other members of the Bristol Senior Citizens Forum. Anne, 71, was one of the first women firefighters in the country in the 1960s. Loyal to her roots Anne was to be found two nights last week on the firefighters' picket line at Temple Back. Anne said she would return again to support the firefighters in their just struggle against the Government. Bristolian Comment: Good on yer Anne and PAY UP BLAIR YOU TORY PONCE!

LAP DANCING BOILERMAKERS!

A tide of trade unionism is sweeping the Old Market area - apart from Chief Scab Mike Lowe at the Evening Post. The Bristolian can reveal that the table dancers at Club Crème in West Street have joined the General Municipal And Boilermakers Union. Perhaps they could ask to see Lowe's NUJ card next time the goggle-eyed Mad Dog slavers up from the Punch Bowl.

Dear Bristolian

"Dear Bristolian
My local post office on the corner of Prince Street and Queen Square is due to close in the coming months. First it was to become a trendy wine bar and now a corporate chain restaurant. It turns out there will be a Post Office in the back of a new Alldays supermarket in Baldwin Street. The women from Prince Street - who have always given top customer service - will have to apply for the jobs there. This is just another sign of corporate greed and disregard for people."

BECAUSE I'M WORTH IT.

Or maybe not in the case of PIERS MARLOW soon to depart divisional director of FIRST BUS. Piers PR skills were well in evidence when he denied that a bus had knocked a pedestrian down in The Centre saying it had merely "nudged him over!". Skills like that don't come cheap and Piers was well rewarded with his salary of £105,000 a year. That's the equivalent of five firefighters - what spiffing good value!
This week First Bus finally threw in the towel and scrapped their 180 RAILLINK service - dubbed the GHOST BUS in Bristolian 25 because there were never any passengers on it. Every ten minutes the bus would swish emptily past queues of frustrated passengers waiting for other buses on it's Ancient Mariner mission to perpetually wander the city streets. Marlowe, in cahoots with city council transport planning genius HELEN HOLLAND had the nerve to pass this off as a fine example of an " integrated transport policy" for which they were both lauded nationally!!! Occasionally a forlorn figure could be seen on the back seat glancing out imploringly for company. This was in fact PIERS MARLOW in a desperate bid to bump up the passenger figures for his pet albatross route. So good riddance Piers you useless jobsworth!

BEHOLD THE MASTER PUNY EARTHLINGS!

In a break with tradition SOMV - the white male supremacist masonic cult known also as 'THE SOCIETY OF MERCHANT VENTURERS' this week appointed a black single mother from St.Pauls as their new ..(surely some mistake here: Editor!).. OOOPS sorry 'bout that..normal service is now resumed .SOMV this week appointed 67 year old ROGER SMEDLEY MBE as their new MASTER. SMEDLEY is the usual rich Masonic networker having founded engineering consultants SAC LTD before merging it with RICARDO PLC in 1990. He is usually to be found sliming around the SS GREAT BRITAIN where he and his cronies use our Lottery money to fund endless private social functions attended by obscure royals where they congratulate themselves on being the biggest gang of crooks in Christendom!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

POLICE IN NOV. 5TH FIREWORK SHOCKER!

Police Intelligence (that well known contradiction in terms) surpassed even its own record of cretinism on November 5th. Readers may recall last year's videoed firework battle between gangs in St. Pauls on Guy Fawkes night. This year's battle was even worse but police say they were taken by surprise! A spokesman said they had reason to believe there would be another firework battle but "NO REASON TO BELIEVE IT WOULD BE NOVEMBER 5th!!!". HO! Ho! Try and work it out guys..same day as last year.bonfire night.fireworks..Guy Fawkes.geddit?..Oh what's the point? Maybe somebody had better warn them the old guy with the white beard and red coat climbing down chimneys on Christmas Eve is not the local crack dealer!
Seriously though, the ordinary people of St.Pauls were terrified as three gangs of masked drug dealers were allowed to run amok in the streets in the area for hours, launching industrial size fireworks at each other and cars and anyone else out on the streets. The battle lasted from dusk till 4a.m. with the police conspicuous only by their absence. Fireworks were being sold from the back of cars and vans, touring the area and re-stocking the warring factions. The only evidence of police was the presence of two or three riot vans containing police who refused to get out of their vehicles and withdrew completely from the area at 9.45p.m. This left the whole of the area at the mercy of the gangs as events spiralled out of control and seriously endangered lives in the area. Does anyone seriously believe that an incident of this magnitude and seriousness would have been allowed to happen in Clifton or any other area of Bristol? Local community organisation ST.PAULS UNLIMITED summed it up well: "What will it take for the people of St.Pauls to get the protection we are entitled to? We are after all citizens of Bristol, we pay our council tax, we go to work and bring up families. We just want the same as anyone else. Yet again the people of St.Pauls have been badly let down. But it seems we are expected to put up with substandard services and be grateful. Not anymore".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MORE TORY SQUIRES FROM SHIRES ON ELITIST QUANGO!

Another brilliant NU-LABOUR appointment to the board of SWRDA - the unelected quango which runs our city in league with the sinister SOMV: Latest appointment is HARRY STUDHOLME - the owner of the 1,000 acre PERRIDGE ESTATE in Devon and a farming and forestry property letting consultant. Just the right kinda rural toff retard to get down with inner city Bristol's problems dontcha think!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EVEN MORE FILTON HORROR!

What! Kevin the Fat Controller to resign from Filton College? (Bristolian 65). Surely not after the money the governors shelled out to secure him! When ex-principal BULLY DEARING left the then Chairman of Governors JENNIFER BONE brought in her protégé from the rural backwater of HARTBURY AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE to be Acting Principal. Then when she wanted to make his job permanent the College paid out £25,000 of our money ( more than an average lecturer earns in a year) to a recruitment agency to confirm him in post. Once he was in control he in turn brought in his own protégé SARA-JANE WATKINS from his old college Hartbury to run the business development operation. Unfortunately she seems to be as incompetent as her vacuous predecessor!

INFAMY! INFAMY! INFAMY! INFAMY! TREACHERY! TREASON! TREACHERY! SPANISH ARMADA SENSATION!!
BRISTOL'S MERCHANT VENTURERS FLOGGED SHIPS AND GUNS TO THE SPANISH ARMADA!

While our Bristol boys fought heroically with Francis Drake against the mighty Spanish Armada little did our brave lads know that the enemy ships and guns were supplied by our own city's SOCIETY OF MERCHANT VENTURERS. The merchant quislings stabbed their own countrymen in the back for a Judas reward!
The Society of Merchant Venturers (SOMV) have dominated our city for 500 years shaking off the truth of profiting from the slave trade and other horrors. But now The Bristolian can exclusively reveal that this cabaal of cronying gangsters and Masonic crooks sold guns and ships to the Spanish Armada at the time of our country's darkest hour. This should provide at last the evidence to run SOMV out of town as their treachery stands exposed for all right thinking Bristolians to see.
Bristol University Historian Dr. Evan Jones has revealed that just as Drake was gearing up to defend our country in the war of the century The Merchant Venturers were selling guns and ammunition to the Spanish. Ships, gunpowder, huge canons and muskets were smuggled out of Bristol to Spain. Dr. Jones added this week "When it came to making a fast buck they saw a potential profit margin and didn't flinch from exploiting it".

At the time the biggest centre of iron arms manufacture was in the Forest of Dean and the Spanish really wanted to get their hands on those big guns. In 1587 there were nine voyages to Spain by the Merchant Venturers carrying weapons for the Spanish enemy. The total value of the ships and weapons sold to Spain in 1587 - the year before the projected Armada invasion - was £53,000. "What this means is that when Drake fought the Spanish fleet in 1588 he was fighting a fleet supplied by the Bristol Merchants". Well said Professor!
The modern equivalent would be for the stinking treacherous Merchant Venturers to be flogging Anthrax to Osama Bin Laden!! Who wouldn't put it past them if there was a few bob in it for them! Time for the Grand Master Imperial Wizard and his funny handshake cronies to be given the grand order of the boot from our fair city and remove their poisonous tentacles from around our throats!
Time to storm the Venturers Hall in Clifton and string 'em up on the Old Gaol in Cumberland Basin to the tune of Drakes Drum Remember: Treason is still a hanging offence!

BROADMEAD EXPANSION HORROR! ST.JUDES FACES ETHNIC CLEANSING!

The Broadmead expansion plans - cooked up by council supremo Diane Bunyan and a load of Brummie property development sharks - will mean the virtual destruction of the entire ST.JUDES area. The full implications for St.Judes and St.Pauls have only just become apparent as the developers mount a charm offensive with glossy pamphlets that are a ragbag of lies and half-truths.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ST.JUDES WILL BE WIPED OFF THE MAP!

The idea that residents in the St.Judes flats could sustain any quality of life amid one of the biggest building sites in Europe stretching right up to their balconies is beyond credibility. The pubs and small shops in the area will be similarly wiped out. No doubt this is the developers' aim as they will then be able to bulldoze the flats and replace them with highly profitable yuppie apartments. Let's face it -WE'RE TALKING ETHNIC CLEANSING HERE - as the last remaining Bristolians are forced out of the city centre to make way for yuppie incomers. Residents of St.Pauls are already waking up to the effect the development will have on their own community as it sinks under a tide of pollution, traffic jams and becomes yet more isolated from the wealth of Bristol. The developers were told to provide some affordable housing in their latest plans. This meant mixed developments where the affordable housing was not hidden away up some cul-de-sac. What have the developers come up with? A plan for one block of affordable housing stuck out of sight behind a multi-story car park. And no proposals for mixed development at all - so as not to cut into their profit margins. Incredibly Bunyan - who is clearly out of her depth here - and the rest of the council patsies have gone along with these plans. The developers are walking all over them - just as they did with their traffic plans which now threaten to turn the whole centre of Bristol into one gigantic traffic jam!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FIGHTBACK BEGINS IN ST.PAULS

Last Thursday residents of St. Pauls met to oppose the Broadmead development: "Is Our Community under threat from BIG BUSINESS DEVELOPERS?" "The Broadmead Expansion Plan, backed by the council, will mean a massive increase in traffic congestion, pollution and parking chaos. St.Pauls is already one of the most polluted parts of the city. Private developers will spend HALF A BILLION POUNDS on the Broadmead Plan. What benefit will local people see? Will there be more jobs for people. in this area? Or will it just be a massive profit making exercise for big business developers? The same with the Cabot Sports Centre - £8 million. Where are the local construction jobs we were promised? Is St Pauls for the people or the property developers? The Broadmead development means more yuppy flats in our area. This will push up rents and property prices even more, putting more pressure on low income families. At the same time we've got the St Pauls Nursery closure, the Old Peoples' Lunch Club closure, the threat to St Werburghs nursery . Do we need more property development or more resources?" The St Pauls Unlimited Community Group also waded in against the proposed "social housing" behind the car park. They wrote: "We do not believe anyone should have to live behind a multi-storey car park, particularly people who have no choice about where they live. Perhaps these properties should be for sale so that people can choose if they really want to live there or not". WE WANT OUR CITY BACK!
The fightback has begun - follow it each week in your caring Bristolian. And don't forget - you'll get your chance to VOTE BRISTOLIAN in May's council elections and get rid of NEW LABOUR and their big business cronies for good!
