Book launch and rally with John Rees

John Rees, Stop-the-War Coalition national officer, is coming to Bristol next Wednesday to launch his new book, 'Imperialism and Resistance'.

This event will be of great interest to anyone wanting a penetrating and practically-informed discussion of contemporary power struggles in the international arena today.

7.30pm, Wednesday 6th December

@ The Council House, College Green, Bristol

War and occupation have been defining features of the start of the 21st century, ushering in a more unstable, divided and dangerous world. This meeting, addressed by John Rees, author of Imperialism and Resistance, and a leading figure in the anti-war movement, will examine the way the new imperialism has shaped the start of the century - and the way the global resistance to it can find strategies for defeating imperialsm and in so doing fight for a better world.

John's analysis will be accompanied by a slide presentation illustrating various relevant aspects of the operation of power on the world stage today.

"I know of few who speak and write more wisely of the danger we face from rapacious power, and what we should do about it, than John Rees. This book is both a fine history and a timely call to arms, for potentially the greatest popular movement of our lifetime is stirring, and that's us." (John Pilger, Campaigning Journalist).

Hosted by the Socialist Workers Party. www.swp.org.uk Call 0791 767 6068 for more info about the event. The book will be available for sale on the night.
