Film show & discussion
In 2004 a group of Brighton peace campaigners began to bang pot and pans outside their local arms manufacturers EDO MBM in disgust of their part in the Iraq war. This has grown into the Smash EDO campaign, which has cost the company millions, been the subject of large scale police operations and has tested the right to protest in the UK.
Using activist, police and CCTV footage plus interviews with those involved in the campaign, 'On The Verge' tells the story of one of the most persistent and imaginative campaigns to emerge out of the UK's anti-war movement and direct action scene.
Film show, and discussion about the campaign, what we can do to support them, and maybe what we can do to take on the local arms industry here.
Starts 7.30pm, at Kebele social centre, 14 Robertson Rd, Bristol BS5 6JY

The screening of 'On the Verge', as part of the information tour of the group Smash EDO, will go ahead on Thursday 27th March, despite attempts by Sussex Police and others to prevent it.
We feel that the intimidation and threats that we and other venues have received is a direct attack on the values of free speech and the freedom to protest, and should be resisted. We fully support the Smash EDO campaign and are proud to be able to give them this platform to allow their dissenting voices to be heard.
The presentation begins at 7.30pm. We expect to be busy so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Please note that this event is for Over 18's only, sorry.
