![]() As part of its programme of cuts, and in contravention of its supposed "commitment" to widening participation, the University of the West of England and its Student Union are seeking to disadvantage some students by withdrawing much needed nursery provision at the St Matthias Campus. If you need help, don't go to UWE!! Threats to close the much-needed nursery at the St Matthias campus of the University of the West of England have become something of an annual event in Bristol. In fact the threats to close it are almost as frequent as the Vice Chancellor’s claims to be widening participation at UWE. |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3You lost me at the madeup quotes. I think it was a really silly thing to include because it turned a news story (the fact that parents were given just trhee weeks notice and may now have to leave the university) into a personal rant against the student union. And even though you've said this quote is made up, I have a feeling you might still get in troube for it.
This is a real shame. I'm a full time working parent of two and I couldn't manage without childcare. My kids don't go to Halley Nursery but the prospect of having my childcare arrangements changed at short notice is one that I think about regularly (nursery fees going up + parents loosing jobs = less kids at the nursery mine go to. What if management decide its not a viable business anymore?)
Surely that shoul dhave been the main point of your article?
i think the made up quote is funny and infact adds to the artical as it highlights the ridiculousness of the situation. it is very clear its not a real quote
The made up quote is funny, however it is beside the point. the truth opf the matter is dom passfield sold students out. He as did the students union signed off 3million pounds from the accomodation block for the university mangement to take as profit. he does need to get his priorities right.
Anyway the quote isnt far from something he would say anyway!
up yours dom passfield. your so far up Steve west, its untrue.
