International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

category south west | community | event notice author Friday October 16, 2009 09:53author by fw Report this post to the editors

Wednesday 25th November marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the beginning of the 16 Days of Action Opposing Violence Against Women. Throughout the 16 Days of Action we're asking everyone to take a stand against domestic violence by supporting our work to keep women safe from abuse in their own homes.

What Women's Aid will be doing... http://www.womensaid.org.uk/
We will be running a donation appeal over the 16 days of action, asking you to help us raise £6,000: that's £1 for each woman supported by our network of local member organisations over the course of the 16 days.

Women's Aid are also pleased to announce that on the 25th November, we will be launching an exciting new Women's Aid charity single. Watch out for more information to come.

How you can get involved...
As well as donating to the Women's Aid's appeal, a great way to support us during the 16 days of action is to organise a fundraising event at your office, university, school or local club. Engage your colleagues, friends and family in this important issue while also having a good time and raising vital funds for Women's Aid. You could even organise a different activity for each of the 16 days of action - fancy dress one day, a cake sale the next... Get different teams to organise a day each - the team that raises the most money or has the best idea wins! Take a look at our 16 ways to act for some inspiration.

Women's Aid sells white ribbons, the international symbol for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, at a cost of £1.20 each. If you would like to purchase some ribbons for your fundraiser simply visit our online shop and fill out an order form. http://www.womensaid.org.uk/landing_page.asp?section=00...=Shop
