Kernow Action Now! (KAN!) is a new Cornwall-based activist group. KAN! supports, promotes and encourages all forms of direct action that aim to confront, stop and eventually reverse the destruction of our communities and our planet. We oppose all forms of oppression including racism, sexism and homophobia.

Kernow Action Now! (KAN!) is a new Cornwall-based activist group. KAN! supports, promotes and encourages all forms of direct action that aim to confront, stop and eventually reverse the destruction of our communities and our planet. We oppose all forms of oppression including racism, sexism and homophobia.

The group was formed in mid 2009 by people that have been active in anti-capitalist, environmental and social campaigning in the UK and around the world for many years. We felt it was time to bring these debates and struggles into our own communities, as well as continuing to work on the national and international stage.

We love Cornwall and we don't want to see it being destroyed by greedy developers, bigots or government lunacy. We are sick of seeing rich people from 'up-country' buying our homes as holiday cottages, leaving our villages empty for 11 months of the year, making it impossible to maintain community services or community pride. We are sick of seeing developers ripping up our green spaces and destroying our wonderful coasts. Cornwall is not a playground for the rich, it is our home!

Kernow Action Now! is steeped in the anarchist tradition of working collectively (without leaders) and using consensus to make decisions. We believe individuals and communities should be able to determine their own futures and find strength in every day acts of friendship, solidarity, charity and love. We also believe in the need to confront and expose those that threaten our communities, our homes and our freedoms.
