Become a cafe collective member or volunteer to cook

Kebele is a community co-operative, run by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis and providing an alternative social space. We organise collectively without leaders and oppose all forms of authority. To help Kebele run smoothly we have formed collectives which deal with different aspects of the project such as art, film, bike workshop, finance, cafe and so on.

The Kebele cafe is entirely run by volunteers and we're always looking for new people to get involved. Helping out at the Cafe or becoming a café collective member is a great way of meeting new people, learning more about vegan cooking and sharing in life at Kebele

The Kebele cafe has been providing affordable, delicious food to the local community since 1995. We believe in providing a space for people to get together and share food in a non-commercial environment.

We believe in minimising our impact on the environment, so we try where possible to use donations of leftover fruit and vegetables from local retailers. We support other co-operatives and buy most of our dried produce from the Essential Foods co-op and local independent shops. We aim to buy and use organic ingredients where we can.

The café is open every Saturday morning between 11am - 2pm, and every Sunday evening from 6.30pm onwards. All the food served is vegan and we ask for a donation of £2.50 for breakfast and £2 for dinner

If you are interested in cooking you can email us at kebelecafe@riseup.net . Alternatively head down to Kebele and put your name down on the rotas which are kept in the serving area.

We are also keen to encourage new members to join the café collective. As café collective members we take responsibility for tasks such as:
Stock checks and food shopping
organising the café rotas
hosting our share of the cafes
catering for outside events and gigs

We meet on the last Wednesday of the month. Our next meeting is Wednesday 25th November at 6.30pm at Kebele. If you are interested in becoming a café collective member email us at kebelecafe@riseup.net or just come along to the next meeting.
