encouraging dialogue & solidarity with political prisoners
Bristol ABC Prisoner Support group hosts it's monthly public letter-writing night from 7 to 9pm tonight, at kebele social centre, 14 Robertson Rd, Bristol BS5 6JY.
We encourage you to come along and get in touch with a political prisoner requesting support. Writing to prisoners is a form of solidarity, letters can be the only bright moment in a prisoners day, it helps them remember they have not been forgotten, and can bring them news, information, the exchange of ideas, and also the chance for them to keep us informed about how they are doing. Whether you would like to just send a short card expressing support, or enter into a longer-term correspondence, come along and find out more.

This is our last letter-writing session of the year and we'll focus on sending political prisoners our best wishes and solidarity for the new year. We have lists of UK, European and worldwide prisoners seeking support, who have been involved in a huge variety of campaigns. We also have info on support campaigns, some literature, and some fund-raising merchandise (see http://bristolabc.wordpress.com/2010-calendar/).
We've got hot drinks and snacks available, along with pens, paper and envelopes. All you need to bring is your writing muscles. This is an informal session, with plenty of time to chat and find out more about prisoner support, and campaigns against prison expansion and the ever-widening prison society we live in.
Until all are free!
