This assault has stiffened our resolve. Now begins the second, visceral, canny, militant phase of our nonviolent march to real democracy. We regroup, lick our wounds and begin our counterattack as early as tomorrow We will turn this winter into a training ground for precision disruptions – flashmobs, stink bombs, edgy theatrics – against the megacorps and the unrepentant 1%, a festival of resistance in the snow with, or without, an encampment that'll lay the tactical foundation for our Spring Offensive. http://www.adbusters.org/blogs/adbusters-blog/tactical-briefing-19.html
Occupy London has squatted a huge multimillion pound office block in the borough of Hackney belonging to the investment bank UBS in a move it describes as a ‘public repossession.’
Occupy Bristol is calling on Bristol City Council to support National Move Your Money Day on 2nd Dec by committing to move their* money. Bristol City Council currently bank with RBS/Natwest, the UK leader in fossil fuel investments. We are calling on them to put their* money where their mouth is, in relation to their claims to be a sustainable city. In the years 2006-2008, RBS/Natwest provided approximately $15.93 billion of financing to companies involved in extracting or burning coal. If the Council commit to moving their* money it could move millions of pounds out of fossil fuels, the military and other unethical activities. This could move capital into projects investing in renewable energy and other socially useful activities. In the United States the Move your money campaign has already had massive success and has moved several billion dollars from unethical, to ethical investors. We are confident that Bristol City Council will make the ethical, sustainable choice to move their* money, given that they “are facing up to the imminent threats from an over reliance on carbon fuels” (Barbara Janke 28/11/11) Although we recognise that its not within the council’s power to change most of the issues that Occupy Bristol is raising, we believe this would be a good gesture to show that we do in fact have “much in common” and that the Council take our concerns seriously. These actions are not sufficient to bring about the kind of change we need to see in the world. This is simply the first step of a long journey. To support our nationwide ‘move your money’ campaign visit: www.moveyourmoney.org.uk *Their money in this context is actually *our money, Bristol City Council are just looking after it for us. In our view they are not looking after it very well.

Jump To Comment: 7 6 5 4 3 2 1I'm not belittling it any way mate, it's just originally i'd heard it was not an assualt.
Shows (what remains of) the EDL up for what they are, and it's got very little to do with the interests of the working class they claim to act for.
Best wishes to all that were affected by it.
So this attack wasn't very much of a thing, but I do want to ask, what if this isn't just an ineffectual one-off? You talk about ideas not being intimidated, and you're right they can't be, but ideas rely on people to back them up and make them happen, and people most certainly can be intimidated.
thought this was just verbal threats, but here's the write up from occupy -
Tonight at around 7pm Bristol’s second Occupation camp was trashed and I was threatened to have my face bit off, by a male whom I presume was a member of Bristol’s EDL firm. I was handed a note by a middle aged woman reading “people of Bristol eviction notice get off our green”. It was obvious from early on who they were so I attempted to engage with them. Nevertheless, I was told they have launched a campaign against Occupy Bristol, this wasn’t news to me as its been acknowledged by us for several weeks. Several Occupations around the country have had repeated problems with EDL members. However, ironically the harder the EDL try to defeat the Occupy Movement, the stronger we grow in numbers, power and support.
If trashing a few tents and issuing threats of violence is supposed to scare us into going back home, they sadly don’t know the resolve, determination and outrage we share as an international movement. I’ve been screwed by this system of injustice and corruption since I was a kid and so long as this body of mine draws breath, I can guarantee I’ll fight with every ounce of determination and faith I can muster to bring it to an end. We don’t have enough people at the moment to defend the second camp so its been temporarily disbanded. However, the actions of those who visited me tonight have made me determined without question to do what ever it takes, to inspire, promote, strengthen and spread Occupy Bristol to every corner of this city and beyond. I may be a pacifist but I promise you this, I will have justice for both myself and my family regardless of your ineffectual threats and attempts at intimidation.
Long live the Occupation.
Occupation is an idea, a tactic. It cannot be evicted, or intimidated.
i have heard that this was a verbal assault rather than a physical one - is that right?
The second camp was attacked, by (it seems) the EDL. So what happens now? Do you have any plans for security?
Stop Press: 'OCCUPY BRISTOL' CAMP OUT ON CAPITA PICKET LINE
ANTI-CAPITALIST PROTESTORS FROM THE 'OCCUPY BRISTOL' CAMP AT COLLGE GREEN HAVE CAMPED OVERNIGHT ON THE ANTI-CAPITA PICKET LINE OF 500 CWU MEMBERS ON STRIKE AT THE TEMPLE MEADS-VICTORIA STREET ROUNDABOUT SITE.
CWU Bristol Branch Secretary Dave Wilshire said:
"'Occupy Bristol' and our Bristol Capita members are fighting the same battle. Capita is a money-rich employer that is forcing many of its workers to survive on a minimum wage when they are making profits of a million pounds a day. So far as the CWU is concerned, 'Occupy Bristol' can camp out at Capita for as long as they like. We salute thier idealism and determination. 3,500 CWU members in Bristol and District, including our Capita strikers, have already made the link between anti-capitalism and anti-Capita, and we invite others to visit our picket-line camp to support us today."

‘Victory to the CWU in their fight against Capita(lism)’!
Last night Occupy Bristol opened it’s second camp with eight tents. The new camp is opposite the KPMG building @ 100 Temple St near Temple Meads
It’s a great strategic location for us, located near to lots of financial services companies including: Royal Bank of Scotland/Natwest, HSBC, KPMG, Deloitte, Bank of Ireland , Osborne Clarke, Canada Life & QBE amongst others
There is also a massive daily migration of people past the camp, and these two things taken together offer lots of opportunities for interesting conversations.
lets hope this one grows as big the last one!
Occupation is an idea, a tactic. It cannot be evicted.
