"They sold our streets and nobody noticed..."

Author and journalist Anna Minton discusses her acclaimed 2009 book Ground Control: Fear and happiness in the twenty-first-century city, recently reissued and updated to cover the UK property collapse and the controversy surrounding the Olympic Park.

Ground Control is a passionate contestation of the effects of the privatisation of formally public spaces that The Observer called a “timely and powerful study”.

In this talk she shares her thoughts on the profiteering takeover of our towns and cities and the damage done to social cohesion, citizenship and trust.

This event is held in partnership with the Bristol Civic Society and the Royal Institute of British Architects.

£6/£4 concessions, £2 donation for members of Bristol Civic Society and RIBA
