Theatre and Conflict

Wednesday 24th October

7 pm - 8.30pm, Hamilton House, 80 Stokes Croft, Bristol BS1 3QY

Speaker Dr Abdelfattah Abusrour is director of the Alrowwad Cultural & Theatre Centre in Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem. The Centre runs dance, music, & theatre workshops for young people based on a philosophy of “beautiful resistance” against the Israeli Occupation. It also challenges patriarchy through fitness programs for women and founded the first women’s soccer team in a Palestinian refugee camp.

The evening is introduced by Dr Dawn Fowler from UWE whose teaching & research interests cover human rights, war & conflict in theatre.

Entry £2 - all proceeds go to the Alrowwad Cultural and Theatre Centre.

An exhibition from the Alrowwad Centre will be showing 10th to 16th December at the Parlour Showrooms 31 College Green Bristol BS1 5TB.
