 Bristol Palestine Film Festival 7 – 16 December, 2012 After the success of last year's inaugural festival, Bristol Palestine Film Festival is back with a season of films, talks, masterclasses, art and events exploring fresh perspectives on Palestine's economic, social, political and cultural life. Screenings include ‘Habibi’ the first feature film to be set in Gaza in over fifteen years, the multi-award winning ‘5 Broken Cameras’ and for the first time since its release ‘The Color of Olives’ will be screening in Daoud Sarhandi (producer Color of Olives) hometown, having been screened at over 80 film festivals across 40 countries worldwide. Throughout the festival, various events will attempt to forge links between the Palestinian communities represented on screen, and the audiences watching them in Bristol. An interactive map installation will encourage visitors to think about the cartography of the West Bank. There will also be a free-running workshop to accompany the film “Free-Running Gaza”, a cycle powered cinema to couple a discussion about sustainable energy in Palestine, and a series of photography workshops developing documentaries on identity, place and community for exhibition in Palestine. Running from the 7 - 16 December, the festival will be hosted by journalist and critic Bidisha, who will be chairing panels with Ken Loach, Selma Dabbagh, and Guy Mannes-Abbott. This year events are taking place at Parlour Showrooms, Hamilton House, Watershed, Knowle West Media Centre, and the Arts House. This year’s festival has received financial support fromBristol Council’s Creative Seed fund, sponsorship through CrowdFunding, the Bristol SweetMart,Unite and Number 10.
