T'is the season to be Artrageous!

Artrageous, an independent art and craft supplies shop open to everyone, invites you to celebrate the festive season by joining them on Saturday 15th December for a free festive Super Saturday Session. Parents and children can play together doing arts and crafts making homemade Christmas decorations.

Artrageous Super Saturday Sessions are free drop-in workshops which are hosted on-site at Children’s Scrapstore in St Werburghs. Families can get creative with the support of an experienced art and craft person. It’s an opportunity to have fun, learn art and craft techniques and low-cost homemade craft ideas. It’s free of charge and children need to be accompanied by an adult. There will be two sessions during the day, 11.00am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.00pm.

Artrageous support’s the charity Children’s Scrapstore who are ambassadors for children’s play. It’s likely that if your child goes to a club, group or school they have played with the creative resources from Children’s Scrapstore. ‘Scrap’ is provided by Children’s Scrapstore as a creative play resource to its membership of over 1,500 child-focused organisations in and around Bristol. Members offer a donation for the scrap collected. ‘Scrap’ is safe waste materials donated by businesses, instead of going to landfill, and can be anything from shiny silver and gold card, to chairs, wood, fabric, foam, plastic tubes and paint.

Children’s Scrapstore celebrated its 30th birthday this year and Artrageous has been around for at least 25 years of that. A favourite story is when Peter Gabriel donated part of the set from his legendary Sledge Hammer music video to Children’s Scrapstore. The pink floral walls became the walls of the first Artrageous shop as there was no money for building them.

Now Artrageous is proud to have expanded into a whole shop space based within Scrapstore House selling quality materials and donating to children’s groups throughout the area.

Artrageous and Children’s Scrapstore really hope that lots of parents and children will join them on the 15th December for what will be a good, fun, family event where you can play together, get creative and take your ideas home with you to do again and again.
