With the onslaught of the slashing of living

standards and the government cuts agenda,

debt increasingling raises its viscious head.

The loan firm Wonga has a APR of 4,214% and

the number of pawn shops has risen by half in

the last five years to 10,000 shops.

The writer Ambroise Bierce was spot on when

he wrote " Debt is an ingenious substitute for

the chain and whip of the slave holder"
