Saturday 2nd Feb, Screening of LUCIO, FORGER, BRICK-LAYER, ANARCHIST. 7pm Hooper House Cafe

In creating a space outside the commercial cinematic environment, the Bristol Radical Film Festival screens some of the most socially and politically engaged documentary films from around the world. Taking place over the course of a week, the festival hosts screenings in a variety of community-based venues during the week, culminating in a weekend of screenings, talks, workshops and debates at the entirely volunteer-run and not-for-profit cinema, The Cube.

The variety of venues reflects the festival’s aims to bring this kind of cinema out from the shadows and into the community, contributing to our access and awareness of political film culture (both past and present) and providing a forum for interaction between groups and organisations advocating for social change, film academics in higher education and the general public at large.

In the wake of the recession and the unnecessary and unjust attempts to make ordinary people pay for it, we are seeing an explosion of protest, resistance and solidarity. As revolutions sweep the Middle East and strikes and revolts explode across Europe, more and more people are standing up to say ‘enough is enough’.
