City of Bristol college is understood to have served at least 100 notices of intended redundancy in the last couple of weeks, signifying the start of major cuts.

A significant number of these Notices have been served on staff teaching at Higher education level. It is believe some staff are being invited (!) to re-apply for their jobs, at lower grades etc. Restructuring and cuts go hand in hand in a classic management tactic of divide and rule. No doubt other staff teams at the college are or will be feeling the pinch in the very near future.

Students report growing despondency amongst staff, moral is low as management scuttle around causing problems.

Staff in unionised, or ineffectively unionised workplaces, could approach either Bristol IWW or Bristol SolFed for advice, support & solidarity.
