Public Meeting with Bruce Kent and invited guests, ‘Time to Scrap Trident?'

Date: Tuesday 2nd April 2013
Time: 7pm
Venue: Central Quaker Meeting House, Champion Square, BS2 9DB

See www.bristolcnd.org.uk for directions and further details, or contact BristolCNDChair@gmail.com.  Do please also join us with, Bruce, for a stall from midday on 2nd April in Broadmead  collecting signatures for the Scrap Trident petition.

Veteran Peace activist Bruce Kent is launching his National ‘Scrap Trident Tour’ here in Bristol on 2nd April. The government plan to spend £100 billion on Trident replacement while continuing to implement savage cuts. Join us to discuss whether now is the time to scrap Trident.

Bruce, who was Chair and General Secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) throughout the 1980s, and formerly Chair of War on Want,  says that he wants to ‘make the connection’ between the Government’s £100bn splurge on new nuclear weapons and the ‘savage cuts’ which will ‘hit the poorest hardest’.

Bruce has urged all campaigners, activists, NGOs and everyone else to join him ‘in opposing this disgraceful squandering of public money which has everything to do with national pride and nothing to do with national security. Nuclear weapons are no answer to any threats we actually face.’
