(12.30am) In Bristol there has been reports of a stand off in St Pauls but not riot (twitter link). The police chopper is above the area now.

Update: (3.10am) There have been disturbances in Bristol, in St.Pauls (YouTube video) though it seems not on the scale of the anti-Tesco riots or near what is happening in London.

Updated Here is one account of events: "The riot started just after midnight, with groups of young people, with many in masks congregating on the streets around St Pauls. While the police sealed off the area around Cabot Circus, people moved onto Stokes Croft, where a couple of bins were set alight and several bottles were thrown at riot police as they began to form lines. The crowd, probably numbering around 200 people was moved off Stokes Croft and along Ashley Rd and City Rd and into St Pauls. In St. Pauls several cars were torched, and the police were pelted with bottles, bricks and other projectiles as lines of riot police moved the crowds around the narrow streets. After 2am the confrontation seemed to have largely died down, with the crowd having dispersed into smaller groups melting away into the backstreets and homes." plus a new video of events last night in Bristol.

south west / protests Tuesday July 19, 2011 16:26 by South West Against Nuclear
As the Murdoch story hits the press the Uk news establishment completely buries the UK parliament's decision to implement 8 new Nuclear power plants. The decision to go Nuclear has been built on the total cover up of the Fukushima disaster, the worst industrial disaster in history. leaked emails by the guardian showed collusion between the government , the press and the nuclear industry (EDF) in completely suppressing news on Fukushima:

In the meantime here in the West Country we have got to wake up to the fact that 2 new Nuclear power stations are being planned at Hinkley and Oldbury. HinkleyC will be the first of the 8 New Nuclear builds Hinkley was chosen because Bridgwater is seen as a deprived and depressed area that would offer no resistance.

Please join the Vigil for Fukushima on the 28th of July outside West Somerset Council as the planning committee decide on the plausibility of EDF's application for the preliminary works to HinkleyC. It's time to build the resistance! Tell your friends, your neighbours, your brothers and your sisters, bring your children, we are planning a coach from Bristol please get in touch with us through our email swanactive@gmail.com
