About Indycycle
Indycycle a website similar to the ideas of Freecycle. It is a way of people re-cycling things they no longer need to people who may have a user for it. For example if you had an old bike you did not need, rather then throw it out to landfill, why not offer it to somebody else who may need it. Indycycle is a great way of us consuming less resources, stopping things going to landfill and building stronger communities. This system is based on the ideas of the Freecycle movement, we don't aim to replace Freecycle, but to use our website to build on the ideas and make it even easier to pass your items on.
All item must be offered for free - no exchanges or cash are allowed. For the person offering an item, they get to clear space without needing to make a journey to the tip and for the person taking the item, they get something they need for free.
Indycycle allows you to post an item you don't want to the site along with a description, photo of the item and your postcode. This means users can search for and see items they may want but also how far they need to travel to pick it up.
Indycycle Terms and Conditions
Items and services offered here must be offered for free. No money or goods/services in exchange can be offered. This is about stopping things going to landfill, re-using and re-cycling and sharing. Item deemed by us to offer and/or imply money or goods/services in exchange can be removed.
Items and services offered here are done so without liability on the part of Bristol Indymedia. We offer the system for people to communicate and do not check individuals or items offered in any way - it is a the users risk. As such we strongly recommend that users take appropriate precautions; if meeting people to exchange, be safe, if getting/offering electrical good- test them and so on.
Using the Indycycle system is also subject to the Editorial Policy of the Bristol Indymedia website, in essence this forbids commercial use, racist, sexist, homophobic postings, asks you to treat other users of the service with respect. The full guidelines can be read here.
If users commit a serious breach of these Terms and Conditions and/repeatedly abuses the system in some way, Bristol Indymedia reserves the right to suspend or even expel them as a user.
All that said, we are a volunteer run project and rely on people's donated time and money to operate, so if you like what we are doing, why not get involved, come along to one of our film nights or donate us some money!
