Squat Party - Direct Action party

last Saturday a squatted party took place in Bristol. Taken in consideration the amount of conditions that it had (publicity, finding space, logistics, etc) the party was a mayor success.

The party displayed a wicked line-up of punk bands (5) and DJ's. The aim was to raise funds for a few causes among them the Thessaloniki prisoners fund (http://indymedia.org.uk/en/2003/07/274081.html), legal fees for local activists arrested in London DSEI protest and other direct action (more in next Bristle).
The event was a proof of the potential that the direct action/ anarchist has, especially when it comes together like it did: people opening spaces (more than 4 were open until finding the right one), doing the bar, the door, security, etc and all this for the 10 hours that the gig lasted, the hours to set-up and the weeks getting a place, holding meetings, etc. The police never bother to turn up – apparently they were busy with another free party near by. The party managed to provide top quality entertainment, uncompromising politics and over £500 for those aims. Around 500 people were in the three floors of the squatted building. Lots that we could say about the bands, dj's etc but we'll leave it for next bristle (out in 1 week time !).
From here, thanks to everyone who made such a night possible – we had a great time!
And remember: this Friday Hip Hop For Palestine @ Malcolm X Centre

Free the Thesaloniki 8 and all the anarchist prisoners round the world!!

Fun & Anarchy
