News of the Israeli air strikes against Gaza are horrendous.
Reports of hundreds killed and many more hundreds injured are truly shocking.
However, the worst aspect is the failure of western Governments, including our own, to condemn Israel for its hugely disproportionate attack not to mention its ongoing breeches of International law in its treatment of Gaza and the Palestinians.

See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/7800985.stm (intermittent sound)
And http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/7801291.stm
for example.

Some people have already vigiled on the Centre in Bristol today (Saturday) and this is an initiative to build on.

Bristol PSC and supporters will continue the vigil on the Centre 12.00-2.00pm Sunday (tomorrow 28th)

And then every weekday with the Peace vigil 5.00 - 6.00pm until further notice.

The Public Consultation on the submission to designate Castle Park is about to be heard.

PLEASE come to the hearing and tell the Council you don't want more shops and offices built on the last remaining green space in central Bristol.

WHY? WHO NEEDS IT?

BCC, the Morley Management Fund and Strand Properties, who want to make money out of the site and bury the archaeology and ecology oft he place under armoured cement and glass.
George Ferguson wants it, to further his own ego and line his own pockets,
Shopping-crazed visitors who can't get enough of impermeable surfaces, instead of grass, artificial lights, instead of sunshine and the sound of Muzzak, instead of birdsong.

DO YOU WANT IT?

If not, come and speak out, get Castle Park designated as a Town Green, to protect it for all time.

Next Saturday (22/11/08) marks the start of a campaign in Bath going under the heading 'we wont pay for their crisis!', demanding no more bank bailouts, and working towards initiating community based solutions to the financial crisis.
People will be meeting at 12.30pm at Abbey Courtyard for a demo taking in the sights of some of Baths banks and seats of local government.

We are hoping for a big turnout for this one to send out a strong political messagen and kickstart a campaign genuinley capable of making changes.

We are hoping for as much support as possible from Bath and the South West, so please try and get yerself down for the demo! read full story / add a comment

The latest carbon dinosaur is about to have an opening ceremony maybe next month or early in the new year. It is the Centrica (they were called British Gas PLC) £400 million development at Langage, just off the A38 between Ivybridge and Plympton in Devon. It would be good if people got together to educate and demonstrate the public's anger at yet another carbon monster being opened - The First in Britain for 5 years and the biggest one in Devon or Cornwall for 30+ years.

Protest against NATO in Ukraine this year

Despite the departure of Blair, Bush (very soon) and many other war mongerers across the globe the illeagal occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan continue, the US is allowed to pursue its aggresive foreign policy regardless of international law. As most of us now accept the 'War on Terror' and the US's pursuit of world dominance makes the world a more unstable and unsafe place.
Since the end of the second world war the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) has been used to drive through US aggression with military bases on all continents and the promotion of nuclear prolifieration.
2009 is NATO's 60th Birthday and they are holding a conference In Strasbourg April 2-5th. Anti-war groups across Europe have joined together to call an international mobilisation against NATO and the spread of war. read full story / add a comment
