As the rumour goes disposing of car tyres isn't so cheap nowadays, for years avonmouth shipped out tyres to india for profit (with bold tread) , maybe that market's dried up, but why have the people who live around the m32 area have to choke on burning tyres from sims metal ltd , who want to dispose them in a cheap way (for themselves), but wasting resoarces like the fire-fighters ,who could be saving lives or getting cats out of trees for old ladies. First of three Trapese dayschools this Saturday, Start Producing the Future, Experiments Against Enclosure, Tools to Reclaim the Commons: "Everyday, everywhere, through spontaneous and planned actions, people are changing the world, together. These everyday actions come from the growing desire to do it ourselves – plant vegetables, organise a community day to get people involved in improving where we live, expose exploitative firms, take responsibility for our health, make cups of tea in a social centre, figure out how to install a shower powered by the sun, make a banner, support strikers, pull a prank to make someone laugh, as well as think", (Do It Yourself, A Handbook for Changing our World, Pluto 2007 www.handbookforchange.org) read full story / add a comment

Do you think students should be charged more for University education? Should people doing distance and part time learning be charged up front? Should people going back into training at a later date be charged more and supported less? Should people be saddled with £25k debt after a degree? All this happens now, and they are thinking of making fees even more expensive. Get involved in our campaign! read full story / add a comment

You are cycling down Park Street in Bristol, probably relishing the wind whistling past your ears and the joy of a downhill run with a view, and as you zip past the shops, you spot two women, dressed in white, faces still and serene, walking with ceremoniously slow steps along the pavement. Then, just as quickly, you have passed them and they are gone from sight. What that momentary glimpse creates in you, what it inspires, how you interact with it, what you feel, how you interpret it, what you think, what you do because of it, may fuel a wonder that leads you to fertile ground. read full story / add a comment
