Bristol's anarchist bookfair on 13 September at the Island was a vibrant, colourful affair that was absolutely rammed with people for much of the day.

The sun kept shining and people kept coming to this explicitly anarchist event. We estimate over 500 people visited, in addition to the stallholders, meeting organisers, cafe crew and bookfair organisers. A varied bunch they were too, as the city centre location appears to have attracted a numner of interested visitors from outside the usual circles.

This mural for the 2009 Bristol anarchist bookfair appeared t'other day to brighten up an otherwise drab street corner in the centre of Bristol, and very colourfull and visual it is too.

It'll give the Bridewell cops something to chew over as they sit chewing pencils at their desks. read full story / add a comment

Main gallery, First Floor: Architecture Centre, Bristol
3rd November - 22nd November
Easton is a vibrant, multi-cultural, yet deprived inner city ward in Bristol. This ward has seen a high level of organic regeneration due to its proximity to the city centre, most of which has occurred in an ad-hoc manner. An influx of young professionals and creative types has been juxtaposed with a host of derelict sites and a lack of sustainable local amenities.

The Love Easton Urban Design Task Group was formed in February 2009 by a group of residents. It aims to create a strategic document for the Easton area to help transform it in a controlled manner, falling in line with the visions and aspirations of the local community and city wide policy. Their objective is to work in a small group to find pioneering and innovative ways to encourage the community to have their say and be involved in the consultation process to transform their neighbourhood.
