This evening I went for a run, part of my run includes running behind the old Blackberry Hill hospital site where there is a flat open space which is mowed regularly and seemly many people use for recreational activities such as walking, jogging, playing games etc. The Homes and Communities Agency have put up numerous signs (which have substantial metal poles and are very well put up) saying that the area is Private Property and warning people to stick to footpaths (which are completely invisible, it is an open field)
Why?

All developments in the "Swine 'flu" panic are deeply worrying and indicate an immanent 'die-off'' op by the NWO.

"He said that during training in Bristol the day before, staff had joked that spreading swine flu would be good for business." read full story / add a comment

The offices of a newspaper serving Bristol's Somali community have been devastated in what is thought to have been a racially motivated arson attack. One of the issues surrounding this story though is the Bristol Evening Post's allowing racists to post freely in the article's comments section, denying any possibility of a racist motive. read full story / add a comment

THE BIG ISSUE EXHIBITION

The photos that you see here are the culmination of a months work by the staff and vendors at The Big Issue. For some of our vendors it was the first time that methods of photographic self-representation had been used. The final work is expressive of both the pain and humour that goes with life on the street.

Ben Smith will be giving a talk about how you can replace Microsoft Windows and all the very expensive and security flawed software that goes with it, with Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). This will save you lots of money and is more ethical into the bargain!

With the burning and clearing of the main migrant camp in Patras, Greece (see article below) it seems there is a Europe-Wide attack on those without the luck to have a EU-Passport.On Tuseday next week the make-shifts camp whoch the migrants have built in calais are to be destroyed. There are plans for mass- deportation flights to follow. Activists are travelling to Calais to witness, and to try to intervene in Calais as we speak. However, the situation is desperate and we call on all those who can't make it to call the numbers below. Indymedia presents: Winstanley (the Diggers and St George's Hill)

Mon 7 September / 7.45pm / £4 or £3 (but nobody refused for lack of funds)

Winstanley – Andrew Mollo & Kevin Brownlow, UK / 1975 / 95 mins / cert 15

Join us and the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair Collective for this screening
of a restored version of this important film from 1975. In the run up to
the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair on 12 September, this film evokes some of
the earliest examples of anarchist thought and practice. Indeed the
occupations by the Diggers have been described by some as the first
anarcho-communist revolution in history. The context of the film will be
introduced by Steve Mills, a local trade union activist and Bristol
radical historian.

Here is what this weeks skill-sharer Fred Miller has to say about Wormeries and their importance:

"Converting food waste into compost for your garden, worm farming is adaptable to different situations in houses, flats, gardens or on a community scale. Low-tech in materials, and management, but like all composting it requires some knowledge. It also recycles waste materials like cardboard and shredded paper which together break down with the food." read full story / add a comment
