New camp set up on route of National Grid’s monster gas pipeline in Wales. Strong local support and participation. People will be needed to take part and support the protest. As I write, people from the local community around Ashley Road, Bristol are protesting the felling of trees and digging up of shrubs and hedgerow.

The plan for the back gardens of Ashley road by Bristol Churches Housing Association, responsible the 'redevelopement' of the area, is to replace the green space with concrete.

At a last minute attempt to save the growth, some people are digging up shrubs and oak trees they planted years ago when they resided at 62 Ashley Road to be planted elsewhere.

Those who were legally occupying the house were due to be evicted today (Monday 11th December 2006).

Last week the front gardens had there trees chopped.

With action like this bu so called regenertaion, people are encouraged to get involved with their green spaces, protect, protest and tell Bristol Churches their opinion. read full story / add a comment

On Monday morning, protestors stopped work happening on the huge gas pipeline that is being built from Milford Haven to Gloucester.

We occupied the pipeline and machinery to ensure that no work continues.

However last night they received news that the police were going to illegally evict them at 8am this morning. read full story / add a comment

The huge U$ airbase at Fairford, Gloucester has apparently been ruled out of the planning for an attack on Iran because of \"...the UK’s opposition to military action against Tehran\" – the article is not clear if this opposition is the government (though I doubt it as that seems to be why Jack Straw was given the boot, because he opposed war with Iran) or could it be that they fear the popular protest? Certainly during the Iraq war the base saw massive protests and it was clear the state was getting worried! read full story / add a comment
