What is it about a big event that makes politicians and the like go all misty eyed and loose reality? The London Olympics went from around £5bn to a final estimated bill of £9.3bn. Yes, Billion. Is the same happening with the World Cup bid? A couple of local bloggers ask the questions... read full story / add a comment

parish council man brian cannell of walton in gordano tells dyslexic learning disibility campainer to write better and use better grammar full story below Andrew, You may get more support from your email if you format it with some correct spelling and grammar. There are wonderful little things called capital letters (used for the first person 'I' and the first letter of proper names, as well as at the start of sentences and abbreviations). Also you will find comma's, apostrophes and full stops are there to ensure a series of words makes sense to the reader. Colons and semi colons are also available to keep everything in order. All these funny little signs are freely available and just waiting to be used on both computer keyboards and mobile phones. Using them will go a long way to making the message meaningful and intelligent. Not using them does not do the writer any favours at all. regards -- Brian Cannell brian@brcannell.co.uk As your original email was sent to my private address without any request from myself, this can be construed as unsolicited mail. I sympathise with your now declared dyslexia and a learning disability, if you had mentioned it in the first email (no real reason why you should though), I probably wouldn't have bothered replying at all and just deleted the mail as junk. If you cannot take constructive criticism then that is your issue, not mine. There is no need to use abusive language. Please do not threaten me, it will get you nowhere. This email correspondence it at an end. Goodbye. -- Brian Cannell read full story / add a comment

As I'm sat at home now trying to put a few words together to express how i feel about the whole thing and to be honest the only thing i can come up with is devastated. This year would have been my first BGG and a great opportunity to learn and share ideas with others. My reasons for going to the BGG wasn't to cause disruption but rather to be informed and to take part in something both meaningful and necessary. read full story / add a comment

For reference, the section of the Commons Act 2006 which permits BCC to voluntarily register their own land as Town Green is ... Section 15(8) - The owner of any land may apply to the commons registration authority to register the land as a town or village green. BCC as owner can therefore simply apply to itself as Registration Authority to register the land. Alternatively, by withdrawing its own objection, it can permit the land to be registered as a town green. read full story / add a comment

The BNP did not win anything in Bristol or the South West, but did win 2 seats as MEPs in the north. This was far, far less than the 5 seats they were hoping for - but still 2 too many. However the actual number of votes cast for the fascists was LESS than the 2004 elections, just that so many voters stayed away that they won a greater percentage of the vote. Now a petition has been launched to tell them that with dwindling support, they don't represent us at all... read full story / add a comment

For those thinking that a vote for the BNP in the upcoming local elections in Bristol or the South West MEP elections, that it is any sort of protest vote, all that is needed is a dip into the foetid waters of far-right politics to make you realise what the BNP are really like. read full story / add a comment

The BNP are standing 8 candidates in the local elections in Bristol.
