A hurricane is sweeping through the world economic system. It will bring financial ruin, mass unemployment, poverty and starvation to large parts of the world. But it will also bring a fightback from ordinary people against the ravages of the system.

Fairfield School in Ashley Down has a planning application in for their playing fields for 4.5m high masts to carry 'Mosquitos' a deterrent that emits a high pitch sound over a 15m radius that apparently only the under 25s can hear. These have been condemmened by Liberty, the Children's 'Czar' Al Aynsley-Green and the Children's Comissioners for England and Scotland as discriminating against children - and their effects on young children, babies and animals are untested. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7240306.stm

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (on bicycle) achieves a unique filmic feat. It manages to cycle in the footsteps of Samuel Taylor Coleridge while at the same time getting lost at sea with the Ancient Mariner. Tom Stubbs introduces his poetic 2-wheeled travelogue - preceded by his short film, Light and Dark. read full story / add a comment
