bristol / community / news report Thursday October 22, 2009 12:15 by Fighting the [twisted] arms trade
The other Monday I was at Easton Community Centre. I’d popped in to use their computers. While I was there I noticed a load of people milling around the outside in white paper suits. I could see this was no protest against GM crops being planted in the hanging baskets. So what was going on? Had someone been murdered and this lot were from the local constabulary – forensics – gathering evidence and checking out the scene of a crime?
Obviously not. Cause I’d been allowed to wonder in.
It turned out they were there to do voluntary work. It seems they did a bit of painting and planted some heather. How twee!
Anyway the computers were down so I had to move on. I went to St.Werberghs Community Centre.
Low and behold there were this strange group of yuppie looking executive types in white paper overalls again. I could tell they weren’t on community service for some alleged misdemeanour, they weren’t smoking enough. Anyway they just oozed of office workers/do-gooders.

It was abit strange cause they kept themselves to themselves, not interacting with anybody, just planting heather, picking up litter and white-washing the walls.

Bearing in mind these Community Centres have a great deal of use from the refugee communities in the area: refugees who are often displaced due to Britain’s foreign policies .i.e fucking wars. I was hugely upset to discoverer that these groups where from BAe fucking systems. Just so there is no mistake BAe systems are not only MASSIVELY corrupt but they are one of the world’s biggest arms dealers. Since they are so big they rely on constant wars for their very survival. The very wars that displace people turning them into refugees overnight.
What the FUCK is going on?

It would appear that those bastards from BAe claimed they were on a team building day at Community Centres in deprived areas all over Bristol.
What you and I might regard as a good skive and an early finish followed by a fast adjournment to the pub.
I personally believe this exercise was to ease their collective corporate guilt.
Well I say don’t bother. I never saw any of the white paper suited brigade inter-react with anybody other than a manager when asking where the nearest B&Q was to buy some paint brushes. (They couldn’t shop in the local hardware shop cause they’d only brought a credit card).

When I enquired at Barton Hill Settlement if they’d had requests from BAe for such ‘team building’ days, I was told that scum [my interpretation] like that wouldn’t be allowed on the premises. ‘Good for you,’ I say.

This bit is for BAe – Stop making weapons that kill and maim children, women and men.

Plus FUCK OFF and DON’T COME BACK. BASTARDS.

The strike by CWU members (http://www.cwu.org/) this Thursday and Friday looks set to go ahead, despite intense pressure and intimidation by Royal Mail bosses, the entire Government, all 3 main political parties, the CBI and every boss keen to exploit their workers for profit. On the sidelines, historic strikebreakers like TNT (remember the printers Wapping strike?), Manpower and other private companies hoping to benefit from the break-up of Royal Mail are licking their lips in anticipation.

bristol / community / news report Wednesday October 21, 2009 13:16 by Antonio Farruggia   image 2 images
“TEACHING has changed so much over the years,” are the opening words from Paul Reid, a 39 year old from Perry Barr, when you ask him what he thinks of his new career.

“I really struggled when I was at school. It was differrent back then and admitting you had a problem understanding something wasn’t easy.’”

Paul was a car mechanic for 15 years before suffering from arthiritis and decided to change career.

“I loved mechanics so much that I decided that I wanted to teach others how to do it,” he explained.

Paul enrolled on a City and Guilds Further Education Teaching Course at Josiah Mason College in order to acquire the necessary skills and gain a teaching qualification.

Paul decided to go all the way and since completing his course he has progressed on to a Certificate in Education, a university qualification delivered at JMC in partnership with University College Worcester, which will make him a fully qualified full time teacher.

Shortly after embarking on this journey, he was offered a job as a mechanics tutor at Greensprings Training.

Given that the 3 were all taken to the same police station, and were probably transported to Brighton in the same vehicle, then it seems they would have been placed in a much smaller geographical area together, where communication would have been practically unavoidable. So we wonder if the cops will now be taken to court for aiding and abetting peoples breach of bail conditions? read full story / add a comment
