The government cannot now be trusted. People across the country are deciding they can choose for themselves who they are and who they trust. The NO2ID Pledge - http://www.no2id.net/pledge/ - is a way of declaring to your friends and neighbours (tell everyone!) that you will not cooperate with any further government seizure of your personal information. read full story / add a comment

This is the latest brainchild of the all-seeing, all-controlling surveillance state, due to arrive in Bristol within the month.

Anyone fancy a day out trying to find the 5 camera sites, and seeing if we can make them talk???

The Home Office has just published a consultation paper "Managing Protest".
It sets out the argument bringing in laws which would make having a public assemby or demostration illegal if you have not sought advanced police permission. read full story / add a comment

Bristol Indymedia Server Seizure Update; On 27th June 2005 the Bristol Indymedia server was taken off line by the police due to an article alleging damage of vehicles on a freight train. The seizure of the server was carried out under a search warrant (police and criminal evidence act 1984, ss.8 and 15). The police also arrested a Bristol Indymedia volunteer for the common law offence of "incitement to criminal damage." No charges were ever brought and the equipment seized has since been returned. read full story / add a comment

Fair play to D.I. House for not simply accepting the rampant cronyism and the crooked glass ceiling that so many other cops have identified in our local contabulary. His challenge to the plundering of the public purse and the Poison Ivy strangling our city and county (aided an abbetted by Moira Hamlin, the sycophantic chair of the A&S police Authority) is the stuff of which legends are made. The bent coppers at the top of our local force spend 99% of their time and effort protecting their dismal reputations, closing our festivals and lining their pockets at our expense... and 1% doing their job badly. read full story / add a comment

Following an extremely informative evening at the Cube , Dove Street ,where Bristol activists swapped ideas and souvenirs with our American counter-parts from the Move, including Animal Rights garb to signify solidarity the following news item is of great interest. This report is of great significance and should not be taken lightly. Further more I hope it puts to rest the accusations that Bristol Indymedia is only about young white males.
Please read and act accordingly... read full story / add a comment

How apt that Bristol Indymedia should last week highlight the horrors & injustices inherent in the British state’s justice system. Last week at least 3 prisoners were found hanged to death in their cells whilst under the care of the British state in UK prisons. They included a Lisa Doe at Send prison near Woking; Marc Mehmet at Exeter (the second such death here in under a month); and Mark Taylor at a Worcestershire prison, who had not even been sentenced yet

What Indymedia’s articles did not pick up on though was that prisons & the state justice system, like wars, are good for business, and have become very big business. Nor did it pick up on the potential strength of anti-prison activity in Bristol. read full story / add a comment
