After the police aided the illegal eviction of the occupants of 71 Old Market street on Friday the 9th of January (see: http://bristol.indymedia.org/article/689546) there will be a presentation of the following statement to officers at Trinity Police Station. Their officers formed the majority of the 25-30 police who aided the illegal eviction, some of whom played football upstairs in the main room while the inhabitants were made homeless.

This is a call out to come down and support the reminder to the police about section 6, and the proper procedures that owners and police must take, and how dialogue over violence is the only way. Friday 16th Jan: 11am outside Trinity Police Station read full story / add a comment

SPIRIT HOMES ENTERS DEVELOPMENT PHASE.
More than 1,200 council tenants in north Bristol are to be balloted on whether they want a new company – run by tenants – to manage their estates.

The move is fuelled by anger at what they say are inadequate services. They also claim they do not have an adequate say over how rent money is spent.

They are braving rain and sub-zero temperatures, waving banners, painting slogans on the roof and windows, blowing whistles, and shouting slogans through a megaphone.

Their supporters who visit everyday bring food and supplies which they haul up onto the roof on the end of a rope.

They plan to stay indefinitely to protest Bristol’s involvement in the arms trade

Bristol-Stop-The-War campaign group are planning a rally Saturday afternoon 20th December.

The Climate Change Act will require the UK to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent (based on 1990 levels) by 2050.
A series of five year interim 'targets' will also be set - which will take the UK's share of international aviation and shipping emissions into account and ensure that the target is kept on track. The protest against Raytheon and the other arms manufacturers continues this Thursday at 3pm.
Meeting point is the roundabout outside The University
of the West of England (UWE), Frenchy campus maingate.

Opposite is the Bristol Business Park is owned by UWE.
There are many arms manufacturers located there, including:-

Thales - building aircraft carriers, that the bombers use
QinetiQ - who supply military training
Armoured car manufacturers - who's vehicles were used by the British Army to bury families alive in cellars in Basra
And of course Raytheon- who build the elecrics for
cluster bombs which mame and kill innocent civillians.

the local press have picked up on the campaign launched by Bath Activist Network against bank bailouts/recession.
the first action of this campaign will be a protest in Bath city centre on saturday the 22nd of Nov. Assemble at 12.30pm infront of Bath Abbey, Bath.
the campaign is picking up momentum, and we are hoping for the largest turnout possible - so get yerself down to the demo!
