BRISTOL LATIN AMERICA FORUM 2009 Progressive change is sweeping Latin America and 2009 marks two highly significant anniversaries: 50 years since the triumph of the Cuban revolution, and 10 years of democracy and social progress in Venezuela. Bristol Latin America Forum, now in its 4th year, is an opportunity to learn more about developments across the continent, through talks, in depth workshops, film and other activities. Come and hear invited keynote speakers, discuss the issues and find out more about solidarity work and how you can help build this locally. Food and refreshments will be provided by Kebele social centre. STATEMENT This ten day exhibition brings together 30 artists who are linked past or present by their place of employment at another artist's studio near Stroud. During the week these artists work to somebody else's brief and specifications. This show explores what they produce in their own time, outside the nine to five. The work is within many and varied mediums including; installation, sculpture, illustration, painting, performance art, video works, site specific, mixed media, photography and spoken word. The opening night will be an extravaganza of live performance pieces, a DJ set and music.
