Goldney Hall Bristol University will be the site of a huge fundraiser for Amnesty International on Sunday 3rd August, 1pm - 5:30pm. This will include musicians in the Orangery, refreshments and children's entertainers outside. It altogether seems to be a fantastic event. Lots of fundraising should be involved. read full story / add a comment

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) is holding a introduction day on 19th June as part of Bristol Refugee week. With glossy NGO style photos and short films it aims to project itself as another NGO helping asylum seekers. This is not true: in reality it is another arm of the governments deportation machine. Come and join the protest from 10am - 6pm - No Platform for the IOM read full story / add a comment

I want to alert Bristolians to a couple of campaigns that are happening right now. Both relate to India and both are of particular interest in that they are using the technique of fasting as a way of drawing attention to the struggle. I have pledged to support the first campaign by participating in the fast; others may be interested in how they can offer their support. read full story / add a comment

Join us for 5 days of workshops, networking and planning actions. The gathering is also a practical example of low-impact eco-living and non-hierarchical organising. It's run without leaders by everyone who comes along, so come prepared to chip in! read full story / add a comment

Biofuels far from the panacea to petrol prices and climate change, have added to the global food price hike by taking land previously occupied by food crops. A study by the University of Minnesota found that growing biofuel on converted rainforests, peat lands, savannas or grasslands created up to 420 times more carbon dioxide than it saved. read full story / add a comment

bristol / protests / news report Friday May 16, 2008 18:30 by For Palestinians
Yesterday, the 15th May 2008, a group of people from Bristol observed 60 years of suffering in Palestine by planting a holly tree in the Narroways Nature Reserve above St. Werburghs, Bristol. We planted the holly tree in St Werburghs as a symbol of friendship, to show the world that the people of Bristol empathise with the people of Palestine as they struggle for co-existence in an increasingly alien environment. And to show that we acknowledge and condemn the failings of our politicians. Politicians who fail to condemn Israel in her sixty years regime of occupation, of racism, and of apartheid. Politicians who claim to be, “Friends of Israel.” read full story / add a comment
