The sudden interest of the media, and the latest generation of campaigners & protesters, in police misbehaviour and brutality, needs to be put into context - because it isn't anything new.

This Saturday's protest in Bristol, against police brutality and the repressive state, is nothing new either. But welcome all the same!

There maybe people in Bristol who feel they need some kind of support after the events and protests around the G20 two and half weeks ago. This skill share would be well worth going to or read the info here and links to the activist trauma support website-or get together with people and give time to talk about emotions. We can all help each other be resilient and continue our resistance despite repression here in Bristol and elsewhere.

Surviving police violence and growing resilience
A skillshare facilitated by Wellbeing and Activist Trauma Support

Sat 25 April, 1-6pm for people who witnessed the Ian Tomlinson attack.

Sunday 26 April, 1–6pm for anybody attacked by the police or who was
distressed by the events around the G20.

at LARC London Action Resource Centre, Whitechapel E1 1ES

Take part in the first "National Cruise Day of Action" on Saturday 2nd May.

"Cruise" is a chain of fashion shops with around 20 branches across the UK. Cruise describes itself on its website as "one of the UK’s leading independent luxury retailers". Cruise fails to mention however that its fashion range also includes items made of real fur, despite the fact the production of fur is now illegal in the UK, and the vast majority of the public is totally opposed to this barbaric trade. All the fur sold in Cruise must therefore be imported from countries which still allow the horrendous cruelty of fur factory farms and the vicious leghold or gin trap.

Yesterday, 14 April, saw day 1 of Elija (James) Smith's 2-day trial at Yate court. He faces a charge of aggravated trespass under section 68 of the 1994 Criminal Justice Act. The charges relate to 2 actions at Raytheon's office up in Frenchay, on the 23/24 October, and 5 November. James is the only defendant, charges against all other Raytheon campaigners appear to have bee dropped. read full story / add a comment

Bristol's militant ska-punk legends 'SPANNER', and friends, present a split-benefit night come birthday bash at The Plough pub in Easton.

Any funds raised will split between the support campaign for the EDO Decommissioners; and the costs of Spanner's upcoming Euro tour. Oh and it's also a birthday bash for a couple of Easton anarchos, who'll be named and shamed on the night no doubt whilst legless. read full story / add a comment
