I have discovered that if I am cycling away from the city center and traveling up Stokes Croft the temporary traffic lights to bypass the road works do not give me enough time to clear the road works if they change shortly after I have crossed them. read full story / add a comment

Around 200 cyclists and others answered the callout for a Halloween ride in Bristol on Friday night (see http://www.bristol.indymedia.org/newswire.php?story_id=24315). The ride was held in solidarity with the reported clampdown on the 12 year-old monthly London critical mass ride, and to celebrate the sustainable culture & economics of cycling. The callout was issued by an ad hoc collection of individuals involved in peace, transport, climate change and anti-capitalist campaigns. You can read a report on the massive London ride, of upto 2000 riders & others, including mobile samba band, on the UK Indymedia front page here http://www.indymedia.org.uk/ read full story / add a comment

A bunch of Bristol campaigners concerned about issues such as climate change, pollution, transport policy, wars & peace, and the current crackdown on civil liberties and expressions of dissent (see links at http://bristol.indymedia.org/newswire.php?story_id=24300 for info about the crackdown on London's critical mass), have decided to call for a one-off solidarity & celebratory critical mass ride in Bristol on 28 October. The text of the flyer is below, and also attached as a pdf if you can print some off & distribute. At the bottom are some thoughts on ensuring a safe ride. If you support the callout please forward details to any elists you are on, tell your friends, and come on the ride! Thanks! read full story / add a comment
