Bristol International Airport (BIA) has applied for planning permission to expand. This development aims to increase passengers by 60% by 2016, increase passenger flights by 40%, summer night flights by 50%, car journeys by over 2m per year, and carbon emissions by at least 40%. The Secretary of State has proposed that additional homes are
built in Bristol over the next 20 years - over and above the amount
previously agreed by the regional assembly and planned for by the
council. The ‘Core Strategy Preferred Options Review’ will set out
proposals for how the new homes could be accommodated in the city.

The consultation period lasts for eight weeks, commencing on 27th
February and ending on Friday 24th April 2009. The Preferred Options
Review, as well as an on-line response form and Sustainability Appraisal
Update Note, are available to view on the council’s website
http://www.bristol.gov.uk/bdf. Further community involvement activities are
