TBC LOGOThis is the simple but effective plan of The Bristol Cable, a new media co-operative launching in the city.
From real local investigations, innovative info-graphics, community round-table discussions and a people’s history, The Bristol Cable aims to be an essential community resource, presenting different voices and ideas to provide what the corporate press cannot – independent, citizen led, accountable journalism.
All owned and produced by people in Bristol.
A central aim of The Cable is to get people involved in exploring and addressing social and community issues through a practical blend of community action and journalism.
This is why they have organised an extensive program (30+ hours) of free workshops, trainings, talks and independent film screenings.
Facilitated by journalists, academics and others with relevant experience, these sessions will lay down skills, knowledge, confidence and direction about media for the public. They are also an important step on the way to the creation of an engaging multimedia publication and monthly free print edition.
As you might imagine, places are filling up fast!
The Bristol Cable would like to invite you to check out thebristolcable.org to find out more, sign up to the free workshops, RSVP to the open events or to vote on the first edition’s theme.

The Bristol Cable has a vision of an engaged and active citizen journalism community – with your support we can make this into a movement.
