His best friend, cousin and father were all arrested and disappeared in 2010 and the authorities were looking for him. the UK wants to deport him on 20th June to Italy under the Dublin III regulation, where his life remains in danger. In the lead up to Refugee Week, Queercafe presents a documentary highlighting the issues for LGBTQ people seeking asylum. Set in Canada, the film documents the lives of five asylum seekers fleeing the homophobic violence of their home countries. Spanning the globe, these stories come from Jamaica, Egypt, Lebanon, and other parts of the world demonstrating the struggles that face LGBT individuals due to the chance of birth.
